It's finally fall! The weather is getting cooler, the trees are changing colors, and soon it will be too cold to do anything outside. So it's time to take advantage of the mild weather! Who better to do that with than your partner? It's easy to get in a rut with dates, so here are 7 suggestions of dates to go on in the early fall.
1.) Visit Your Local Pumpkin Patch or Corn Maze
This one is a classic - and manageable almost anywhere. Who doesn't love a good hay-ride, corn maze, and pumpkin picking adventure? Plus, you can usually do all of that from one location. Just Google your local listings to find the perfect local pumpkin patch and create a seasonal tradition for you and your sweetie.
2.) Try a New Coffee Shop
There's something about the smell of coffee that gives off major autumn vibes. It's no wonder that there is so much hype about lattes, candles smelling like lattes, pumpkins smelling like lattes, and lattes smelling like pumpkins in the fall. It's the perfect time to find a new local coffee shop in your area to snuggle up in with a hot drink and your main squeeze. I recommend small businesses for this idea, because they're usually cheaper, have a unique feel to them, and you're helping a local business to thrive.
3.) Go on a Fall Hike
One of the best parts of fall is watching the leaves change - and in the Midwest where I live there are a ton of leaves. Late September or early October is probably best for this date idea, because the cooler it is the more vibrant the color of the leaves will be. So put on a flannel, grab some hiking boots, and start discovering the majesty of nature in your area with your boo.
4.) Find a New Restaurant with Comfort Foods
I'm specifically talking soup here - think Panera but cheaper and more local. There is nothing my husband and I love to do more than savor some nice hot soup (specifically ramen) on a cold day. This could also be an excuse to try new restaurants with your partner and find a new spot that you both really enjoy.
5.) Build a Blanket Fort and Watch a Movie Set During Fall
This is a cute, cheap, and very social-media-shareable idea. Especially with the prevalence of streaming subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu, this date could be basically free (provided that you already own blankets). Add in a string of fairy lights to escalate this date into maximum aestheticism! Plus, snuggling can help you live longer. That's a true fact - look it up.
6.) Bake Fall Treats Together (Maybe With Ingredients You Picked?)
Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins - the sky is the limit! My husband and I love to go apple picking in the fall, and then come home and bake an apple pie. That actually combines several dates into one - we go to the pumpkin patch and pick apples, then come home and make a blanket fort, then eat apple pie while watching anime in said blanket fort. Then after that we go and get ramen.
7.) Go on a Weekend Trip to a Bed and Breakfast in a Historic Town
This date is a little pricey, but can turn into a beautiful fall tradition. There is something so charming about walking around an old town in 55 degree weather. There are a lot of new sites to see, a lot of charming little antique shops, and a bunch to learn about a new area. My husband and I take an annual trip to "Madison Indiana" to get some sangria tea (a seasonal delicacy from Lanthier Winery) and spend the weekend enjoying the jazz festival.
I hope that you could find some inspiration from my list! Please leave your favorite fall date suggestion in the comments below. Happy fall!
